針對沖繩副知事浦崎唯昭與地方漁會十二日到東京向農林水產省大臣森山裕陳情，涉日相關人員研判，是日本漁民在下月年度作業規則談判前的循例發聲，日本政府不可能因此「修改」台日漁業協議。
我國黨政人士也指出，我方除由農委會表達我政府嚴正立場，也將密切觀察後續發展，再決定是否提升應對層級。
漁民指出，日本沖繩縣官員及漁會十二日曾向內閣提交陳情書，要求修改台日漁業協議，將北緯廿五度卅二分、東經一百廿五度三○分至北緯廿六度二○分、東經一百廿五度三○分以東特別海域，以及我方俗稱的兩個「倒三角」海域，摒除在「台日協議適用海域」，並限制台灣漁民在部分黃金海域，須維持「四海浬一艘船」的間距作業，當地報紙《沖繩縣琉球新報》也報導此事。
蘇澳區漁會理事長陳春生昨天召集宜蘭縣延繩漁業協會等團體舉行記者會，要求政府站出來挺漁民，否則將組成自救行動，號召漁民包圍釣魚台抗議。
會中也有漁民不滿前總統李登輝主張「釣魚台不屬台灣」的說法。宜蘭縣長林聰賢強調釣魚台屬於宜蘭縣頭城鎮，呼籲中央應更清楚主張，同時保衛這重要的傳統魚場。
總統府發言人陳以信也重申，中華民國政府擁有釣魚台列嶼主權，毋庸置疑，「任何否認我國擁有釣魚台列嶼主權的說法，都是喪權辱國的言行」，中華民國政府與國民都不能接受。
